ISDE 2014: France continues making its way to the World Trophy

The French team extended the gap on top of the overall for the World Trophy after the second day in the FIM International Six Days of Enduro 2014.  Australia is the new holder of the second place in the fight for the  biggest prize and continues leading the overall in Junior World Trophy and Women World Trophy.  Argentina keeps the sixth place in the race which will continue until next Saturday November, 8th. in San Juan.

For the second consecutive day, “Les Bleus” were the fastest in the day and took advantage of the delay of the United States to get a greater gap over its rivals. Pierre Renet (Husqvarna) had another outstanding performance, winning two tests.  The French team finished the second day with 4:13.34 and now adds up a total time of 8:26.48.

The new holder of the second place is Australia who, with Mattew Phillips (KTM) and Toby Price (KTM) performances, continues in the fight and appears 6.43 behind the Europeans.

Spain is the surprise with inspired Iván Cervantes (KTM).  The Iberian team  finished another great day being now 12.17 behind the leader and only 36 seconds over the United States.  In spite of Robert Taylor´s (KTM) great job – who finished with the second best individual time in the day  after Renet-  the American team fell to the fourth place  due to a not very fortunate performance by Charlie Mullins (KTM), who arrived at paddock looking for medical care due to a mild thoracic trauma.

In Juniors, Australia continues leading although the US and France, the two closest followers, were able to shorten the gap by a few valuable seconds in a fight which promises another several chapters. With a total of  5:14.06, the Australian team is on top , but now its advantage over the US is 22 seconds.  The French team is in wait in the third place only 35 seconds behind the leader.

Thanks to another strong performance by Jesica Gardiner (Sherco), Australia is also leading among women, but in a more comfortable position. An accumulated advantage of 15.15 separates them from the US, while the third place is for the Canadian team, half an hour from the lead.

Christophe Nambotin (KTM) was the best in each of the tests ran for the E1 category and has almost three minutes advantage over his fellow citizen Marc Bourgeois (Yamaha).  In E2, Renet  was dominating again today and extended his lead to 53 seconds over Phillips. Loic Larrieu (Husqvarna) is third. This Junior rider was the fastest in the overall in the third test today.   Price keeps his first position in E3 although he lost some time in favor of Taylor, who shortened the gap and is now less than six seconds from the Australian rider. Among women, Gardiner has an advantage of more than two minutes over Jemma Wilson (Yamaha).

After two days  on which the tests in the west were repeated, tomorrow, the race will head for the east of the province, going along El Caucete, Báscula, la Difunta Correa and la Ripiera special tests.  Riders will make two passes on the first tests, completing a total of six tests on the third day of this “Six Days”.

Argentina defends its positions in the World Trophy and the Junior Trophy
The national team did a great job on the second day in ISDE 2014 and keeps the sixth place in the overall for the World Trophy while it keeps the seventh place in the Junior Trophy.

Despite the fact that the tracks were damaged and more difficult, the national team in the highest category had a similar time to Day1 and clocked 4:30.33, only 19 seconds slower than yesterday´s time.

Again, Kevin Benavides was the landmark in the light-blue and white team and he set the best time while Franco Caimi also had an outstanding performance which makes it possible for our country to hold the sixth place, 4.11 behind Germany and 52 minutes over Chile.

In  the Junior Trophy, Martín Mercado was the best in Argentina and his time together with  Agustín Maldonado and Juan Zunino’s,  helped them get a bigger advantage over Canada, (eighth place), although they lost a few minutes regarding Germany, which holds the sixth place.
